Fine Tuning Spam Assassin Settings
Please be aware!
Improper Settings here can prevent you from receiving
email period! They will be permanently deleted!

Go to http://www.ptera.net/newportal.shtml and in the green column of the window click on the button marked User Admin

Enter your email address as the user name without the "@ptera.net"
Then enter the password for your email account.
Click on the Login button

Locate the above button in the lower right corner of the
screen and click on it.
Or under the Mail menu on the left.

The primary option to be concerned with here is
Spam Classification.
The other is more advanced and allows you to specify email addresses that you never want classified as spam etc. Click on the Spam Classification button.

Here you can adjust the score by which emails are considered spam. To change the score click on the radio button next to the text box and enter your score here. Then click on the save button.
BE CAREFULL!!! If you set this too low you will start losing emails that are not spam. It is best to lower this number a little at a time. Let it run for awhile and adjust down if needed. If there are important emails that may be caught by the spam filter you will need to enter these into the Never classify as Spam section of the Allowed and Denied Addresses section.
NOTE:
All emails marked as spam are removed from the system. If you want your spam sent to your mail box, please send an email request to support@ptera.net.
NOTE:
If you suddenly get emails marked ***SPAM*** in the subject line then your Spam folder has reached the 51MB limit. Please access your SPAM folder and remove the spam that is being stored there or send an email to support@ptera.net if you want us to mass delete the emails for you.

Allowed and Denied Addresses

If you want to black list or block certain email addresses you can enter those addresses here.
Then in the section labeled "From: addresses to always classify as spam"

You enter the email addresses you want to block like so.
name@network.net
another@network.com

NOTE Please enter the actual email address and not the examples shown here.

Be sure to enter only one per line

If you get a bunch from the same place you can put
*@network.net

Be sure to click the save button at the bottom when you are done.
Please remember these are advanced utilities that are 'use at your own risk'.
